Summary

Listen in as we dig into the results of the Industry Pulse Research Report, an annual effort to "take the pulse" of the healthcare industry.

For the past 10 years, Change Healthcare and the HealthCare Executive Group (HCEG) have commissioned the Industry Pulse Research Report, an annual effort to "take the pulse" of the healthcare industry. The insights gleaned from this year's research reflect responses from 445 payer and provider leaders, 80% of which are director level or above.

To dig into the results, show hosts Rich Levin and Grant Evans met with Ferris Taylor, executive director of the HCEG; market researcher Michael Brousseau, of Insight Dynamo; and David Gallegos, senior vice president of Consulting Services at Change Healthcare. Here's what the panel discussed:

  • The history and purpose of the Industry Pulse
  • Research methodology and respondent breakdown
  • Industry maturity of consumer-centric strategies
  • How provider fragmentation and a focus on acute patients limits insight into the full  consumer population
  • Payers or providers: Who should provide cost/quality data to consumers?
  • Building the research's value-based care maturity model
  • Understanding the value-based care gap between payers and providers
  • The interoperability gap
  • Overcoming mistrust between payers and providers
  • Key factors for achieving healthcare interoperability
  • Consumerism, aligned incentives, and the success or failure of supply chain interoperability
  • Payers and providers on the impact of AI
  • Reaping the rewards of AI-driven innovation
  • The leadership gap on cybersecurity defenses
